S.A.F.E. and Reach

SAFE stands for "Students Affecting Future Excellence". SAFE`s mission is to emphasize positive peer influence and to promote an awareness to join together in preventing alcohol and other drug abuse. During the school year, the SAFE Club is responsible for organizing activities for Red Ribbon Week in October, participating at the Illinois Drug Education Alliance Convention (IDEA) in November, and organizing the Pre-Prom assembly in April/May.

As a SAFE Club member you are also a REACH Club member. REACH`s biggest school sponsored event is a Prevention Education Program for 3rd graders. The program is titled, "Making Good Choices".  During the month of March, REACH members begin rehearsing their parts in the program. Then during the months of April and May, REACH members visit six neighboring Aurora grade schools and perform their puppet show. This puppet show not only promotes an educational environment on drug related substances but also stresses to the grade school children the importance of developing healthy friendships to help support them during difficult times.
