Catherine Gallagher ('22) Graduates from High Point University

Heads to Harvard Medical School for a Research Position
Catherine Gallagher  (‘22) graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect GPA from North Carolina’s High Point University in May with dual degrees in Psychology and Dance. Her dance capstone concert combined the two disciplines and was titled, “The Inner Continuum: Personality in Motion.”

Cate received a number of honors prior to graduation, including the highest academic honor, the Order of the Lighted Lamp. She was also named Outstanding Psychology Student. She was an Honors Fellow. A leader in two psychology labs, president of the Honor Psychology Group Psi Chi, vice president of the Honors Dance organization, and one of the Dance Department’s most esteemed choreographers and collaborators. 

Cate presented research all over the county, studied in Prague, earned a summer internship at the University of Virginia, and spearheaded the first HPU Out of the Darkness walk that raised more than $15,500. She created a podcast called Psi Chi Cognitive Conversations.

She was a University Ambassador, served on Executive Board of the Catholic Campus Ministry, and volunteered at countless places, including the Food Recovery Network. She held down several jobs each semester, serving as an honors writing tutor, a statistics tutor, and an intern at Cloverleaf.

This summer, Cate is starting a research position at Harvard Medical School’s McLean Psychiatric Hospital. She will be joining the Sugarman Lab within the division of Women’s Mental Health and division of Drugs, Alcohol, and Addiction. Her future goals include pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
