Rosary students earn medals and honors on National World Languages Exams
Forty-eight Spanish and French students from Rosary High School earned national recognition for excellent performance on the 2023 World Languages National Examinations.
Rosary Students earned a total of four gold, seven silver and 15 bronze medals along with 22 honorable mentions on the Spanish and French exams.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Lisa Greenman, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with nearly 85,000 students participating in 2023.”
Gold medalists scored in the 95th percentile or above; Silver medalists scored between the 85-94 percentile; Bronze medalists scored between the 75-84 percentile.
Special recognition was given to senior Ellie Schubert who earned a medal each year during her Rosary High School career.
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Rosary Spanish teachers are Mrs. Julie Jeppesen and Ms. Katherine Bruckner ('15).
The National French Contest/Le Grand Concours is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French for students in all 50 states and abroad. Rosary’s French teacher is Mrs. Heather Cannon.
Rosary High School is a Catholic, college-prep high school for young women sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois. Rosary creates a sisterhood of truth, faith and strength.
