Ali Heckle (’22) graduates from Mizzou with Honors

Earned a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Captive Wild Animal Management
Alexandra Heckle (’22) graduated from Mizzou in December 2025 with a B.S. in Animal Sciences and a minor in Captive Wild Animal Management. Ali graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, and in the Animal Science Top 10.

After graduation, Ali had an internship at Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon, working with more than 50 carnivores.

She is currently working for the University of Missouri as a research technician on a dairy cattle mastitis challenge. "We are attempting to see if one species of staph is preventative against another, so my job involves taking milk and tissue samples and seeing if they contain any of the bacteria we are looking for," she said. "It is very hands-on with the cows and bacteria, and I have gained a lot of technical lab experience that will help me with any research I want to do in the future."

Ultimately, Ali hopes to contribute to wildlife conservation efforts by working at zoos and contributing to research in that field.

Way to go, Ali!
